"Poor dignity diplayed"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Anything else?

I had suffered a mis-carriage in 2010 where in A&E was made to feel like id completly wasted time i was in distress and pain and the sho asked me what i wanted him to do. As im not a medical professional i did not know?. And never suffering a miscarriage i also did not know what to expect.

I then suffered another miscarriage in november 2012 where A&E staff where better but i was sent EPU where i was treated like a piece dirt an annoyance i was so hurt and made to feel yet again i was wasting their time i also had a sever kidney infection and they eventually tested me for uti's or ecptopic pregnancy to which when they got the result i was given a presciption with no explanation as to why i needed to take antiotics just told to hurry uop and get to pharmacy as it was closing!. I asked the staff at EPU why they felt the need to treat me like this as i wasnt aggressive, rude or done anything to inflict this upon myself as i kept being told it was 'natures way' and they couldnt answer me.

I felt let down and dissapointed that i myself work here and yet was treated with such disrespect and undignity i feel that no matter whether you work here or not we should all be treated the same. I still cry at these hurtful memories and i do not cast any blame on them for me losing the babies but a little compassion doesnt hurt anybody with out it why are we doing this job : (

We are sorry to hear about your sad experiences and offer our sincere sympathy for your losses. We would like to feel that our staff are compassionate, caring and sensitive when dealing with the circumstances that you describe.

It does concern us that you felt let down and disappointed and we will make the Matron in the EPU aware of how the staff were perceived when you attended the department.

We do hope that you are feeling better and we would like to hear from you about your experiences, particularly as you a member of staff at the hospital. This will help us improve our service which absolutely includes treating patients with compassion and consideration.
