"Unexpected Hospital Stay!"

About: St Richard's Hospital

Anything else?

I unfortunately became ill whilst on holiday near Chichester last month and after consulation by an out of hours GP was admitted to the AMU ward at St Richard's. After extensive and thorough testing I was diagnosed with a massive PE. Being away from home and family made the situation even more scary.

Every single member of staff that I met during my six day stay could not have been lovlier. From the porters to the consultants, staff nurses to refreshements team each and every one of them made me feel safe and valued.

I was transferred after three days to Witterings Ward and then Middleton Ward and again met the most caring team of nurses and healthcare workers.

My care plan was discussed thoroughly with me at all times and my concerns were listened to with a genuine interest and care.

All in all, although my situation was serious and at times extremely scary, the experience was made so much easier because of the dedicated team of staff that work in all the areas of St. Richard's. What a wonderful place to be poorly!!

I cannot thank everyone enough for looking after me and treating me with respect and dignity at all times. I sincerely hope that this message is passed on to all of the teams who work in the wards and departments I have mentioned.
