About: The Great Western Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

This is a copy of an email that I sent PALs, it bounced back as the address wasn't valid - seems typical of the shoddy administration.

I was born with a congenital heart disease and have regular check ups. These used to be at Bristol Royal Infirmary, but since the opening of the Great Western Hospital have been there instead. I saw Dr XXXX at the Cardiac Centre in July 2006 and he said that he’d see me in a years time. Not having heard anything, I rang the Cardiac centre in June this year, to be told that they’d contact me at the end of June. Still not having heard anything I rang again on Tuesday 10 July to be told that the clinic that I had been put down for had been cancelled. The earliest appointment available was now in April 2008, but that I may be able to go to BRI.

I am annoyed that

1)I was not informed of the cancellation until I made enquiries and

2) that they do not have another appointment until April 2008.

When I had check ups at BRI they managed to see me regularly with no such cancellations. To be honest, I am disgusted at the poor service that I have received.
