"ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!!!!"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Anything else?

My partner was admitted to hospital in January, as he had chest pains. Upon arriving to the hospital, a male nurse in Accident & Emergency said in a sarcastic voice to a collegue "a 20 year old with chest pains? Yeah right". Then during his stay, he never knew what was happening, he didn't know what he was diagnosed with until he saw it written on a piece of paper. He didn't know what medication he was taking. He had to change his bed HIMSELF. He wasn't able to walk properly. He wasn't allowed spicy food, pastries ect because he has gastric ulcers, the nurses didn't tell him that until he'd ordered his food and it arrived. Then they didn't even offer him a sandwhich or anything as he couldn't eat what he'd ordered. Then they kept saying every day "you'll be discharged today", until 5 days later when he was finally discharged, as he discharged himself because he was unsatisfied with the level of care he was receiving, the nurse said "I'll be back in 5 minutes with your tablets and dietry sheet" (I asked for the dietry sheet), 2 hours later the nurse reappeared without the dietry sheet, when I asked for it again she said he didn't need it.

On Sunday, we had been out for a friends 21st, we're not big drinkers, we only drink on special occasions. On the Monday, an ambulance was called for my partner because he was getting pains again from his ulcers which was unbearable for him. Upon arriving to a&e, the nurses and doctors were rude, as I asked a question which was quite relevent to what the doctor had said, and I was snapped at. My partners mum was shouted at to go home. He was left all night in a&e because they said there were no beds avaliable for him. He was discharged at 9:00 in the morning, they hadn't even checked him over, just given him tablets and sent him home, again I had asked for a dietry sheet and had not received one. The last time he was in hospital, the doctor said the nurses should of referred him to his GP but they hadn't and we didn't know nothing about this. On Tuesday night, an ambulance was called again because his pain was worse. This time, they said that he is dependant on alcohol, which is defamination of character! My partners family, my family, my partner and myself are completely outraged by this complaint had he is not a smoker, drug user or drinker. He went on one night out and suddenly he is an alcoholic? We will be intouch with relevent people/companies/solicitors soon, as they wouldn't treat him because apparently he's dependant on alcohol. He's currently throwing up blood and feels let down by the care he's received. We phoned the doctor, and the doctor doesn't know whether to come out and see him or send him to the hospital, but my partner doesn't want to go back. Absolutely appalled!!!!
