Anything else?
I've been in the UK for over 2 years now and so far only had absolutely terrible experiences. However, last Saturday (09/03/13) I notice some alteration in my sclera (white of the eye) and went straight to Moorfields. As soon as I arrived there was a nurse providing some quick assessments. In less than 15 minutes she saw me and quickly spoke to me. After that I waited for 15 more minutes and another person saw, we spoke a little more so he could get to know any previous problems that could help to understand my case. Half an hour later another person saw me and more depth in the diagnose this time. Then after one hour and a half I saw a doctor and I was diagnosed with bacterial conjunctivitis. Medicine prescription sorted and I went home. 3 days after I noticed something else inside my eye, some sort of stye. So I decided to go again to Moorfields and see if that was expected. Yesterday (14/03/2013) it took me only one hour and a half to be seen by a doctor and the nurses that also saw me were absolutely angels! I've been diagnosed, another prescription for the stye and today I'm feeling incredibly better already. Top service, very thorough, respectful and qualified professionals.
I honestly wish that every NHS I go to doctors and nurses could take more time assessing patients instead of getting rid of us by giving paracetamol and telling us to come back in a week if nothing has changed.
In 2011 I had MRSA and took 6 months to be diagnosed (thanks to a nurse, not a GP) and then 3 more months to find the right treatment. But again, I only received more attentive diagnose when a nurse saw me. My hospital is in Laycock Street - Islington Medical Centre.
Moorfields Eye Hospital is a role model in every aspect for all NHS.
