The treatment and care I received at the Foscote could not be faulted.

The private room (with bathroom) was well equipped: TV (which I didn't use), WiFi (which I also didn't use), comfortable electric bed, chairs and ample desk and storage space.

But much more importantly, every member of staff was friendly, polite and caring. From cleaning and catering staff, through admin and nursing to resident medical officer, anaesthetist and consultant, every one was professional and, I think, proud of their work.

I was originally booked as a day patient for a hernia repair, but had to stay overnight. During the night I called for nursing assistance about 10 times (not something I'm particularly proud of), but on no occasion did I have to wait more than a minute or two and on all occasions was greeted by a smiling face.

On the whole I would rather stay in a 5 star hotel, but the Foscote comes pretty close and has the advantage of carrying out medical procedures!
