"when a member of staff becomes a patient"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Anything else?

I saw my go who suspected I may have a PE, he tried to call the reg to have me seen but the reg was unable to answer his bleep. I was tod to go straight to A &E with a letter from my gp.

On arrival it was obvious that the unit was very busy. I was seen quickly by a triage nurse, who did baseline obs and told me that I did not look like a person with a PE and that it was my call if I wanted to wait 4hours!!!

Thankfully I waited and was diagnosed with a bilateral PE. There were no beds so I spent the night in the A&E plaster room. The staff however were friendly and supportive under difficult circumstances.

Dear Clare, thank you for taking the time to send us feedback on your recent visit to Darent Valley. As you have appreciated the A&E department can experience very busy periods, but we were pleased to hear that you waited and had your diagnosis confirmed. We were also very sorry to hear that at the time you visited there were difficulities with bed availability but thank you for the lovely comments regarding how friendly and supportive the staff were. We wish you a speedy recovery and please come back should you experience any further problems.
