"Bad memories of hematology departments"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Anything else?

I was a patient here recently in the long stay cancer / hematology ward .

I found the nurses behavior here , ( both male and female nurses ) disgraceful and quite inhuman .

I was at a very very low point in my chemotherapy treatment , I asked one male nurse for some pain killers , he shouted back at me in an angry way , probably knowing I was not in a fit state to reply .

At another time i accidently turned on the tap in my room and it caused a bit of water on the floor, i called in the female nurse who was in charge of the nightshift to tell her about the spill,

She got very angry about it all , banging and cursing as she was mopping it up ,again probably knowing I was not in a fit state to reply or object .

I really must say it seemed to me these nurses acted in this way because they knew they could get away with it because i was in such a weak, vulnerable state .
