"Unhappy with care from Devon Partnership NHS Trust"

About: Devon Partnership NHS Trust / Adult mental health Devon Partnership NHS Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as the patient),

I have been diagnosed with PTSD and depression.

I have had to wait 20 months for 1:1 therapy. Despite me previously registering a formal complaint, I feel the trust dealt with this wholly inadequately.

During this time owing to a lack of treatment and certainly during the first 10 months of my illness a lack of adequate support, I am now watching my life fall to pieces. I currently need to put my therapy on hold whilst I deal with the fall out of the Trusts failings in the first place, and then I am told if I do that, I will have to wait another 6 months to resume therapy.

The crisis team is generally an answer machine, and the care plans are a joke. The bottom line is you had better be capable of caring for yourself as staff seem to be either off sick, on annual leave or don't work certain days of the week.

Please also don't refer me to PALS who I have found a waste of time. There are only two PALS advisors for Devon Partnership NHS Trust but six if you are a general surgical patient.

I am thoroughly sick to death of having to grapple with a service which is virtually non existent and listening to staff constantly telling me they are overworked and under pressure. There needs to be a massive shake up here and I hope someone reads this and deals with this soon.

The Trust does not seem to want to genuinely listen to its' service users and believe me if I had a choice, I would be going elsewhere. It is criminal that I have paid so much into a system and I am left constantly floundering when in need. They seem to rely on the fact that most mental health patients are not well enough to speak up for themselves.

If the new Chief Exec reads this, then please invite me for a meeting with you. I previously tried getting a meeting with the last chief exec. The sooner we are stopped being treated like second class citizens, the better.
