I want to say that there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about BPD I think that medicines are a necessary part of treatment. Also a lot of the mental health professions avoid BPD service users because it is a very hard, and demanding condition and they seem scared to try and deal with it.
Also they tend to think we are attention seeking and bad people but we do have a real condition and BPD represents a big percentage of service users. This has certainly been my experience and I want the condition to be treated with respect. It has taken me a long time to get psychological support but this is still limited and not enough. It needs more rescources and I would suggest that more people find out about the condition for example by going on bpd.org and bpd.uk
It is potentially fatal with 3 out of 10 dying from suicide and affects 2 percent of population and is more common in women.
