My daughter, has Tetralogy of Fallot, complete Agenesis of the Corpus Collosum and Trisomy 8 Mosaicism.

My middle daughter suffered from a very bad cold recently which my other daughter caught. Saturday 9th Feb 2013 we took her to the Paget to be assessed and was told she had Bronchiolitus, after being monitored for a few hours was sent home as there really was no need for her to be in hospital. The next afternoon however, she worsened quickly and was very unresponsive so we contacted the ward (ward 10) and went back. When i took her out of her car seat she had turned grey in colour from having her first cyanotic spell. The staff were instant to react and stabilised her quickly and very effectively. She was moved to a High Dependancy Unit cubicle to be closely monitored. She had more cyanotic spells during her 10 day stay in hospital, one night she had a very bad spell which lasted a long time. The staff worked so hard to try and help my daughter, there was talk of transferring her to Great Ormond Street Hospital, The consultant was called in from his home miles away just to see her which was greatly appreciated. When at her worst, her nurse was so helpful, kind, caring, and totally dedicated to her work. The spell eventually wore-off but she stayed really poorly. Everyone on that ward that came into contact with my daughter- nurses, doctors, consultants, cleaners, food deliverers were so professional, dedicated, kind and caring. Staying in hospital with a sick child is always a hard time, but the amazing staff that worked there made it so much more bearable. Everything was explained and staff would also check to make sure that myself and my partner were ok too. Tests carried out showed she also had pneumonia too which contributed to her being so unwell. After being on the ward for 10 days, my daughter was finally well enough to come home and is much better now, we are currently awaiting a date from G.O.S.H. for her corrective surgery for her heart. Without the help, assistance, oxygen, adenaline, morphine and fantastic treatment, i believe we would have lost our baby. We are so very grateful to everyone that helped- the doctors, the nurses, our outreach nurse who kept popping into see us, the caring cleaners, the very kind lady who brings the breakfasts.
