"Appalling staff, dirty hospital & inaccurate..."

About: Tameside General Hospital

Anything else?

Received my grandfathers discharge papers in the post this morning from Tameside hospital, on the paper work it states co-morbidities - Cancer....This is the first we have heard of my grandfather having cancer. I have spoken to ward 40 and was told if it is cancer we will send it in writing. I have attempted to contact his two consultants and have very rudely been asked what I wanted and not had a return phone call. I am livid at the treatment and lack of information passed on by the specialists to my family. This is one problem of many we have encountered at Tameside hospital and we've now had enough!

Thank you for sharing your experience on the NHS Choices website.

Clearly, your experience is not what we aspire to at Tameside General Hospital and due to the serious nature of your comments I would urge you to contact the complaints department on 0161 922 6025 in order that a full investigation of your concerns can be undertaken.

Please accept my apologies and I hope we can resolve your concerns as soon as possible.

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
