"Getting results seems to be taking too long"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

Having visited my GP with pain and frequent trips to the toilet i was surprised to receive an appoinment for a colonoscopy (no consultant meeting first) for 4 weeks ahead, glad it was not too long. So I had the procedure and was told by the ward sister that the consultant(who was extremely busy and very nice) had written in my notes "moderatly active colitis". I was to do a stool sample and have an ultrasound of my ovary. Now 4 weeks later no word from either my GP or the hospital. I have made appoinment with my GP for another 2 weeks time (we live in a rural area and this was the earliest available appointment with the GP who referred me) and i have rung the consultant's secretary who has told me my consultant has been too busy to write my notes up yet, nothing was written about ultrasound and she also told me there was nothing sinister in my results... In the meantime i am on constant painkillers and luckily have acess to the internet so i have discovered the NACC (National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease) and various other helpful web sites. Do i cause a fuss and visit my A&E like many others do for routine problems, or just keep myself dosed up?
