Today I accompanied my brother to the GP Assessment Unit at the hospital and cannot praise enough the treatment and profesionalism that he received.

Following a short stay in the hospital last week, after being admitted with severe abdominal pain, he was successfully treated and allowed home.

Yesterday, there was a follow up call to his home with a request that he return to the hopital at 11.00 am today for further tests, just to ensure that the medication he had been presribed was working successfully. Arriving at 11.00 am, he was seen immediately, further blood tests were taken and sent for analysis and he was seen by a consultant nurse who explained in detail exactly why he had been called in and explained in detail the results of all the scans, x-rays and blood tests that had been taken. She listened carefully to his concerns and went the extra mile to reassure him and arranged for another consultant to meet with him later, to review the findings of the latest tests, including that of a further echo scan of his heart. Whilst waiting for results, we were both treated to a cup of coffee. Each and every nurse and administrator with whom we were in contact treated us with courtesy, kindness and humour, which went a long way to reassuring him and calming his anxiety as to his condition. An exceptional experience of a very professional medical team!
