On initial appointment with GP was told I would be referred to hospital for consultation. I have not given a referral from and presumed I would hear directly from the hospital.
After 4 weeks I telephoned for new appointment at my surgery and asked about my referral as I had not heard from the hospital. Was told from the receptionist that she would leave a message for the doctor to ring me the next day.
When the doctor rang I was told I had not been referred as promised and given an apology but no explanation or reason. The only thing that came to mind was the pressure of work. Doctor said they would contact Tamar Referral Centre as soon as possible. I asked if I could have the telephone number to enable me to check at a later date that this had been done.
The outcome of this has caused me an extra four weeks before I can have a consultation at the hospital.
"I don't think my doctor sent off the referral"
