Anything else?
My husband was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx in July 2012 by the Consultant in the ENT Outpatient Clinic at Darlington Memorial Hospital and his chemoradiation treatment was carried out at the James Cook University Hospital. His care and treatment was continually monitored by the Head and Neck team who cover both hospitals. His treatment was not pleasant but our every concern was handled swiftly and efficiently, Our follow-up outpatient appointments are ongoing at Darlington and thankfully my husband has received positive results.
We are both extremely impressed and grateful for the care he has received from the Consultants to all the support staff on this team, they really do go the extra mile and spend time with all their patients giving reassurance and explanations which can make a huge difference to patients like my husband when given such upsetting news. Far too often all we read in the media is about the negative side of the NHS. Well, all I can say is some of these reporters want to spend a day with the aforementioned team and see for themselves what their day entails.
Finally, I'd just like to say to anyone who is unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with any cancer of the head and neck and are worried (as we were) about their future treatment, if you are under the care of the above-mentioned team you couldn't be in safer hands.
Words don't seem enough to thank them all for what they have done for my husband.
