"St Georges - un-read ECG delays surgery"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

(as the patient),

I took a day off work for an outpatient day surgery appointment, my best friend took a day off to collect me. 2 months previous I had an ecg and checks to make sure everything was alright for the anesthetist and the op. It wasn't untill I was gowned up(!) ready to go in to surgery that the anesthetist came out with my ECG results and told me if I was elderly I'd have to have a pace maker - I'm in my early 30's. He showed the ECG and said that it's clear and obvious from the ecg.

I've since had to go for more tests. When attending for the results of these follow up tests the consultant hadn't even looked at them and sent me off saying I'm sure it will be fine. I've since had a letter asking to attend for a cardio appointment - my presumption being everything is not fine.

My real beef is that I wasn't told there was a problem until I was gowned up, had taken a day off work(and arranged for a friend too aswell) - they had my ECG for two months and could tell 'at a glance' literally that there was a big problem.
