I visited Liverpool City Walk-In Centre after feeling a lump on my groin area which was becoming increasingly painful. After waiting almost an hour (no triage, empty waiting room, just sat waiting) I was called and told that a student nurse would also be watching the examination. Fine, no problem. I explained that I had felt a lump on my groin which was getting more inflamed and more painful everyday, that it was difficult to see easily so I wasn't completely sure of its appearance and it was causing my significant pain and distress. I was asked no further questions and told that this was either a hernia or a haemorrhoid which would fix itself in its own time. I was advised to buy a haemorrhoid cream over the counter and make an routine appointment with my GP if it does not improve. I felt like I'd wasted my time going there.
I've just got back from the hospital. It is infact an abscess which they say could easily have been diagnosed in the walk-in centre if they had taken a look. The walk-in centre didn't even examine me. Very poor care. From now on I'll go to A&E.
