The wait to arrive at this consultation was from beginning of May to October. Although this seems a while, I have no knowledge of the pressures/demands within the ENT faculty which would account for this but, my perception is that it was as best that could be done.

The specialist was an impressive professional who works along with the doctor....... He listened to and answered all my questions and due to my personal circumstances, referred me to PGI for a scan to enable him to be in full posession of my medical 'cross section'. I returned again at the end of February and we discussed moving forward to a surgical procedure. He quietly listened to all my questions and concerns and explained the scan result in layman terms.Outlining all the risks involved, even telling me that the procedure may not return my taste or smell. All the facts up front ,even the negatives. I could not ask for more. Such was the confidence he instilled in me that, I have decided to undergo the procedure, and I am a nervous person. I am to attend PGI early March for a pre-operative assessment. The next wait I am told, will be up to 18 weeks during which period I will be required to attend for surgery. All in all, it will have taken up to 13 months start to finish with some post operative visits thereafter. As a footnote, I have researched via the internet and watched many Youtube video presentations of the procedure and this also helped me to arrive at my decision. I look forward to getting my life back.
