I have been a patient of the Renal Unit in the Royal Preston Hospital for approximately 35 years. They have always looked after my condition with excellent professional care. However, in the last four years my health deteriorated considerably as my Kidneys inexorably began to fail. These symptoms were further complicated when I was also dignosed with Prostate Cancer and my planned treatment was severly disrupted. Thankfully my Consultant fought hard for the best treatment I could possibly be given and then as my Kidneys were deemed to be in Renal Failure My wife and I went through a gruelling trial of pre-dialysis and then subsequently transplant work-ups. These trials culminated in my devoted wife's incredible courageous donation of her kidney to me in October 2012. Throughout all the proceedures the entire staff of the Preston Renal Unit, Consultants, Nurses and Dieticians etc. cared for us with kindness, compassion and clincal proficiency. We will be forever grateful to all of them. My wife and I cannot recommend this entire unit highly enough. Anyone with Renal problems can expect the best possible clinical care delivered with kindness and compassion.
