"treated like an idiot on PAW"

About: Royal United Hospital

Anything else?

My daughter is now 10 months old, however I spent the majority of my pregnancy unaware if I had miscarried as nobody seemed to be bothered to check if my daughter was okay, I bled throughout my pregnancy from week 11 to week 25/26, I had no explanation for this, and when one midwife told me it was my placenta I was then told by another it wasn't, it was a struggle to get even a heartbeat test to find out if my child was still alive, I was promised scans, then denied them at the las minute, I spent my pregnancy an emotional wreck and had no support from a single staff member. When I asked for a blood test for anaemia because id lost so much blood and felt unwell it was recorded in my notes as I had demanded a test. After eventually receiving the test I was found to be anaemic but had no appology. One night I sat in A&E after being in agony and bleeding heavily, I was refused even a heart beat test because apparently it was inappropriate, I bought my own heart beat monitor in the end. When my waters broke 5 weeks early I was told that they hadn't broke and was sent home, I came back to the hospital that night where I had to be induced, luckily I was treated better in labour, and my daughter had excellent care in NICU, I am so greatful to them. This comment only briefly describes the shocking care I had throughout my pregnancy, I was made to feel stupid, unimportant, and ignored, quite frankly I'm reluctant to have any more children, my treatment was disgusting.

We are very sorry to hear of your experiences and would urge you to raise them with the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon. This hospital provides maternity care on the RUH premises and it is this organisation who can address your concerns. However please accept our apologies for your poor experience within our buidling.
