A year ago my husband was admitted as an emergency with appendicitis. We was in the northern general all night and the doctor said that it couldnt be appendicitis as he was too old [he was 67yrs].
He was on morphine to kill the pain and it was only my intervention that got him a scan. The appendix burst and he was taken straight to theatre. One year on he had to go back in the hospital as they hadn't sewn the bowel up properly.
He's ok now but it was a harrowing experience.
