I had a knee replacement in de la mare ward in early December 2012. Despite quite a long wait for the operation, the treatment I received from all professionals involved in my care, pre and post operation was wonderful and I can't praise everyone concerned highly enough. The surgeon, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and carers were fantastic, friendly and approachable, very knowledgeable and most important, skilled. The Enhanced Recovery Programme is very successful in my case. So far so good, my operation a complete success. I am still receiving physio in the form of weekly exercise class at the physio dept. and I am playing my part by doing my exercises! The standard of cleanliness and repair on the ward was excellent. Although the common areas are down at heel in some places and the dirty windows are a bit depressing to look through for in patients, I undersand that this is not a high priority. The food was reasonable, I chose a very nice poached salmon meal for one meal which was nicely cooked and presented. Another meal of sausage and mash was not quite as nice but still edible. Lastly, thank you very much to all who had a hand in my treatment.
"Wonderful service"
