Anything else?
I had been seeing my consultant for a number of years but my prolapse worsened and I had to go in for surgery. I arrived at the hospital at 7.30am on the day of my op, I waited 9 hours before my surgery which for me was a traumatic experience, sitting there getting more and more worried! I had my op with a spinal block but was awake during the procedure, not as bad as I thought! Ladies, if you are scarred of this don't be it was fine. My Consultant is a caring, professional surgeon, the staff on the Women's Health Unit were great, my only worry was that because I was admitted on the enhanced recovery scheme, my vaginal pack was taken out at 6am the same time as all the other ladies who had had surgery the previous day. I was not taken back to ward til 7pm whilst others had been there since lunch time. I felt it perhaps should have been left in longer? It bled a bit after pack was taken out and this frightened me. I was discharged after 2 days in hospital however again with no information leaflet regarding the bladder repair, I have had to look up on the Internet about recovery times and what to expect as I am still in slight discomfort I didn't know whether this was normal.
