"Disappointed with care in Chesterfield Royal"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Anything else?

I was the hospital for 5 days and my experience on the ward was that I was being cared for 99% of the time by health care workers. The only time I was seen by a nurse was when they came round with the drugs. Nobody asked if I was ok.

There was very little compassion and not only with me but with the other ladies in the ward.

Regarding the hospital food I thought it was half decent food but not served up very well i.e the vegetables were swimming in water, seemingly not drained properly.

Really sorry to read how you felt about your experience on the ward. Did you ask to speak to the ward matron during your stay? We'd always recommend that patients do this to try and resolve issues immediately. You're welcome to make your concerns official, if you want to make a formal complaint? Call our Advice Centre on 01246 512640. And I will make sure your comments about the meals are sent over to the catering manager, as we are trying to improve all aspects of the meal service - and the presentation of meals is as important as the look and taste to encourage patients to eat. Best wishes for your recovery Sarah Turner-Saint, Head of Communications
