"Appointments"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Last week I waited over eighty minutes past my appointment time. Today I am at present over sixty minutes past my appointment time. I work and have to take a half holiday from work because of the amount of time involved. These are appointments for clinics not a&e. if patients are designated times how can things get so far behind. If time are for ten minutes then surely if would take many patients to seventy minutes behind schedule. The time will come when the clock will run out, the lights turned off and we're told to come back another day or do we sit here all night hoping we might be first in the morning? The blitz spirit only goes so far.

Thank you for posting your experience of the outpatient department on the patient opinion website.

Please accept my apologies for the delay’s you have experienced; clearly this is unacceptable and I will be investigating the reasons for the delays with the relevant management team.

On occasion treatment and appointments may take a little longer than expected, but we certainly do not expect delay’s of over one hour, for our patients.

Once again please accept my apologies for the delays you have experienced.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
