"Poor GP care of my daughter's verruca"

About: Sandwell PCT

(as a parent/guardian),

My GP could not give an appointment to me to see my daughter's verucca for treatment, so advised I used the salicilic acid that freezes the verucca. It needed treating so I got the medication from the chemist.

The wart looked like it was healing, then it turned into a purple blister which were bleeding. It is sore to put pressure on so she is having difficulty walking.

I asked the GP reception for Dr appointment only told that a nurse can deal with the problem. I tried to tell them no, it is a Dr I need as it is a referral to either freeze or some minor op to be removed.

However, we had an app with the nurse to be told it was a shoe problem that caused this. Not impressed when my daughter's shoes are a well fitted and decent quality shoe. She could not help and we had to see a Dr.

We arrived at 3:20pm and left 5:45pm to be told we had to go back to reception to ask for a referral for minor op, which was a fax sent to the hospital - pretty basic - and if I would like the nurse to dress the verucca which I was capable of doing myself which I did.

I asked the receptionist about the complaints procedure, only to be told I just send a letter in addressed to the doctor complaining.
