"Long delay to be seen at Tameside Hospital Medical Admissions Unit"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

I am visiting my parents as my father is not well and he went to Tameside Hospital today onto the Medical Admissions Unit.

My father arrived on the ward at 13.30 hrs and was still waiting to see a junior doctor at nearly midnight.

Yes you read that right. He is 73 and paid taxes from the age of 15 to retirement. I feel that making him wait like this is disgusting.

I am disheartened to read of your father’s long delay to be seen on the Medical Assessment Unit.

Please accept my apologies for the delay you and your family experienced. This is not the standard to which we aspire to at Tameside General Hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
