I was told by the first ENT doctor that I saw he suspected fluid behind my eardrums but then said no looks like TMJ and referred me to a jaw specialist but didnt seem to write this down in my medical notes
I feel I have been dismissed by a few GP's, it got so bad I even changed GP surgery to get ENT referrals.
I have been told this problem is all in my head by specialists. Its like having a phantom limb and its sensations of fluid. I think they are wrong on this and I am greatly upset being a young girl with what Ive been told and the ordeal I have been put through.
I have been told that I need to go see a psychologist by an ENT consultant in Glasgow Royal as this is all in my head.
One ear specialist didnt know what I had and couldnt diagnose me so referred me on to another ear specialist.
I have been misdiagnosed with TMJ at Monklands hospital, I then got diagnosed with an inner ear viral infection and the specialists are saying there is no name for what I have got, so yet no diagnoses again.
My problem is inner ear fluid/catarah deep inside the inner ear. The MRI scan was did at Hairymyres, but I had to push for that and surprise surprise that was did without contrast despite me asking for contrast.
I now know I need a CT scan and a high resolution with contrast of my ears and sinuses and temporal bone but the specialists I saw in Wishaw Hospital wont do it, which to be honest doesnt surprise me. Even though the specialist said he wish he could help me and did sympathise with me and referred me to tinnitus counselling.
None of these ENT specialists seem to be helpful or have much of a clue what to do.
Im very angry with the way the NHS system is ran and angry at why these specialists dont have a clue and are making a big fuss about sending me for a scan. I feel they've put my health at risk. I have had the condition for 18 months now and yet still no correct clinical diagnoses as far as I'm concerned.
Ive to live with ear crackling popping every time I yawn or eat, seeing horizontal lines, ear pain on and off, visual disturbances, dizziness and balance issues, tinnitus, constant ringing noises. This all started with a viral chest infection.
All I ask is for is a CT scan but no they wont even do that, so what choice have our patients got within the NHS system anymore? The NHS system for me personally has been a difficult and upsetting journey.
