"Care was good, but more needs doing"

About: Newham General Hospital

Anything else?

Having stayed on Silvertown ward, the care was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the majority of the staff. However, the Trust need to clamp down on visiting, especially with children. How can people recover with kids running around the ward and around six visitors around a bed, all believing the rules don't apply to them? Surely a strict age limit of 10 years should be imposed, and then limited to weekends only and staff allowed to impose the two visitors to a bed rule. Also, would someone please tell the staff that people need to sleep at night. The racket of radios, cylinders being changed and loud chattering meant we all got little sleep. Unfortunately, the staff let themselves down when I was discharged and expected to walk out the ward to the car park, when I could barely walk the length of the ward! Many, many thanks to the porter who came to my rescue. Your attitude to patient care needs spreading.
