I was knocked off my bike outside the Eye Hospital in central Bristol. An off-duty nurse and two paramedics on their break witnessed the accident. They quickly helped me up. Luckily the accident happened just a few metres from the A&E department at the BRI so one of the paramedics chained my (mangled) bike up for me while they helped me to A&E.
The A&E staff were helpful and efficient. It was a fairly quiet time of day so after a couple of hours I walked out of the department having had two sets of X rays, and my shoulder put back together again.
10 days after the accident I was seen by a consultant at the BRI who gave helpful advice and checked that the shoulder was healing as it should.
Since then I have been attending physiotherapy at Cossham Hospital, near where I live. The service there has been professional and well run. It has now been 6 weeks since my crash and I have almost full mobility back in my shoulder.
I'd like to thank all the staff at the BRI and Cossham Hospital who have helped me recover - not to mention the off-duty Eye Hospital staff who scraped me off the road.
