"Have only praise for the staff in Codicote ward"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

Anything else?

My 96 year old father went into the QE11 in early December 2012 having had a fall. He was subsequent transferred to Codicote Ward where for various reasons he remained until late January, before moving on to a nursing home. Dad is blind and although mentally in pretty good shape did; understandably, get confused with the various comings and goings in the ward. The nursing care he received throughout that time was exemplary. Dad was effectively bed bound and needed a high level of care. He was treated with dignity and respect. We were impressed that both doctors and nursing staff took the time to explain to him what was going on and had the patience to listen to Dad’s comments and thoughts. When we visited or phoned we were able to receive a clear brief on how Dad was progressing.

Thank you so much for getting in touch. We know that the staff on Codicote, as indeed all our wards, have worked exceptionally hard over recent years to ensure that their patients, irrespective of their circumstances, are treated with abolsute dignity and privacy at all times. They have also sought to ensure that they communicate effectively with patients and their families/carers so that everyone knows what's happening and why. Which is why they will be delighted to read your kind words. Thank you taking the time to share them with us - we will make sure they get to our colleagues on Codicote.
