"A & E delivers."

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

Anything else?

Saturday night, a busy one. I was taken into A&E with chest pains and feared a heart attack. Paramedic and Ambulance Crew first rate.

No trolley wait in corridors. Smooth hand over to triage (?) nurse. Calm, friendly and professional. After ECG, correctly identified as low risk and so waited 2 1/2 hours to see Doctor. He was most professional. Blood test and result within 2 hours. Then a wait for further tests, so transfer to A.C.U. Busy but friendly staff took me through further tests to point of discharge later next day.

New A & E building very good, what was needed! Cleaners busy in the early hours trying to keep the place up to scratch - despite the patients that dropped litter and didn't care! Patients have to accept some responsibility here.

Saw none of the 'chaos' that seemed to prevail at the old place in Princes Road.

Well done!

A.C.U. Ward looking a bit tired - in what is now the older part of the hospital. Ward was cold at 6am, with patients wearing their dressing gowns in bed. Is this a new bug busting policy?

The level of care was good in this Ward, although there was a little delay in recording my arrival perhaps? (6am).

Thanks to ALL the staff, Doctors, Nurses, Assistants, Cleaners, Porters - So glad you are there.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your experience in the department. Our staff work hard to provide a positive and timely service, which this feedback reflects.

I will share your comments with the team in the emergency centre. It is very rewarding for our efforts to be recognised and I am sure they will be pleased to read your story.
