"What a joke!"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

Anything else?

I was admitted to lincoln hospital from grantham (who where brilliant) i had severe stomach pains, i was sent to lincoln and first of all it took them 4 hours to give me any kind of pain relief, i was in that much physical pain that it making me sick. secondly when the doctor examined me he was feeling around the area the appendix should be and his comment was "well i dont think its your appendix" considering i have a 5inch scar on my stomach and no appendix, I was eventually told that sometimes people have stomach pain that you just can't find out whats wrong- i was on morphine and tramodol, i requested that they do an ultrasouns as i know my own body, so i know when somethings not wrong, after peserting the doctor, he eventually agreed to do one before so he said "we won't find anything, but if thats what it takes to show you then we'll do one" and low and behold i had a cyst on my ovary, it was measured at 4.9cm- i was told that it had to be 5cm for it to be removed ( a joke i know) i was sent home with oramorph, tramdol and paracetamal as well as anti-sickness tablets and a tablet to line my stomach i was home for 3 days and was in agony the whole time on the night of the 3rd day the pain was that severe i passed out, my mum called an ambulance and knowing that i didn't not ever want to go back to lincoln hospital requested i was taken to Boston- who where fantastic, when i came round i had been to theatre and they had then removed a cyts that was 10.9cm which resulted in me loosing my right ovary, i am 19 years of age and felt like Lincoln hospital could not take me seriously, due to their error i now only have one ovary, i will never go to lincoln hospital again for any reason, they had a duty of care and instead of treating me palmed me off home. I would seriously advise that anyone suffering with Gynie problems go to Boston Hosipital i have follow up appointments at Boston hospital and have recently discovered i have a 4.2cm cyst im booked in next thursday to have it removed before it calls me any inconveinence.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your clearly very distressing experience. Whilst we are pleased that you had good care at Grantham & Boston I am very sorry that it did not go so well at Lincoln. I have passed your story onto the Lincoln A&E staff to see if I can find out more about what happened and hope to post an update in a few days time.
