"X-ray Dept"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Anything else?

I have an annual ultrasound scan yearly on a cyst on one kidney. I have also had various other scans and X-rays over the years, and have always found the staff cheerful and helpful, both in the waiting areas and in the treatment centres.

The only suggestion I would make is that patients who are clearly very ill and are being wheeled around on beds are given more privacy. Their beds are often "parked" in the corridor of the scanning dept, where they are in full view of people visiting for more minor procedures. Perhaps one area or room could be used as a waiting bay for such cases. They look most unhappy to be on view.

Thank you for your comments and I'm glad the staff were helpful. We recognise that in some instances patients have to wait on our corridor prior to examinations. We always try to minimise the time these patients are waiting to preserve their privacy and dignity, so we time their arrival and departure very carefully. Sometimes, however, previous patients take longer than anticipated and therefore this may lead to waits for others. Unfortunately there isn't space or capacity to place patients in X-ray rooms whilst they wait. However please be assured that we do endeavour to ensure patients privacy and dignity is uppermost in our minds whilst caring for our patients.
