Anything else?
Having visited my GP in october i was treated with medication for a nose complaint that was severely affecting my ability to breath and depositing mucus on my chest with obvious affects to my health, this treatment however failed and i was refered to the North Staffs by my GP. I duly rang the hospital to make an appointment as the other two options i had been given were out of the question. An appointment date was sent to me on the 26th of November for the 27th of February, i thought this a little long but accepted it as probably common practice. I have now recieved a letter cancelling this appointment and been given a new one on the 2nd of May, i find it wholly unacceptable that anyone should have to wait 22 weeks for an initial consultation. On investigating why, i was told that the original consultant was on annual leave in February, did they not know this when the original appointment was made? I am aware that times are hard and cuts and efficiencies have to be made the situation however for what will probably be a 5 minute consultation to tell me that i need an operation seems ludicrous.
"Waiting times."
