Anything else?
This amazing hospital quite simply saved my life. My cancer was picked up by a routine mammogram, also supplied by Torbay incidentally. Before I knew it I was under the care of the Breast Care Unit. I felt safe from the second I entered this unit. The radiographers were amazing & the nurses were just so very kind and knowledgable.
I had surgery, met the best anaesthetist I've ever known (I'm an ex SRN so have some knowledge) He gave me a general while I was full flight amidst a panic attack. He knew I'd disappear if he wasn't careful. I owe him a lot. My surgeon is another hero. Without him my life would be in tatters right now.
I awoke in Mccullam ward. Oh the staff! So kind, so careful and gentle (so clever too) They took the best care of me that I could have ever dreamt of.
I'm writing this to all of the patients who may come to the Breast Care Unit. Don't be scared. You quite simply really are 'in the best place'.
Thank you all. I owe you my life. (Got radiotherapy next so may leave more feedback after this coming phase). But, I'm not scared anymore.
