"Toddler to A&E"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Anything else?

A disaster! 8 hours here and still no sign of a prescription. Our 2 year old was taken to A&E with dehydration symptoms, they ran some tests, heart rate, blood sugar. Had to badger staff to find out if he was ok hours later, were told yes, he's mildly dehydrated due to tonsil infection and refusing fluids, then had to wait to see a specialist to prescribe meds and discharge. Had to wait more hours for the discharge registra and now still sat waiting for the prescription. It's been 8 whole hours at this hospital. As our son will only drink vows milk he'd had sips of what we'd bought and certainly didnt expect to be waiting 8 + hours esp at his age and his condition. Had to track someone down and repeatedly ask for some milk for our already dehydrated child. It's appalling and it seriously needs to be better organised!
