"Cataract removal"

About: Burnley General Hospital

Anything else?

Apart from being given a wrong time on the letter and having to go home at 7.30 am and come back again in the afternoon, I have nothing but praise for all the staff who dealt with me, all the way through from trainee nurses to consultant and theatre staff.

Before your first appointment you are sent a really useful booklet whihc explains what will happen and there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions. My appoointment was for 10 days later whihc was amazing. i could have had it the following week if I'd not had anpother important committment.

Even so, I was quite anxious about the procedure on the day, but staff were very reassuring, and in theatre somebody held my hand all the way through which helped me to relax.

There was lots of form filling for the staff to do, but at every step the staff were checking and double checking details, so I didn't mind as it helped to reassure me no mistakes would occur.

After I came up from theatre, I was given a lovely cup of tea and some toast (I could have had a sandwich but I wasn't very hungry). After period of recovery, I was given advice plus medication to use at home and then discharged.

It's too early to tell how successful it has been, but I have no reason to anticipate any problems. I'd certainly recommend anybody who has any doubts to go ahead.
