"very poor information given to the next of kin"

About: Pendle Community Hospital

Anything else?

my uncle was on the hartley ward dec 2012 i found this ward to be very under staffed with never anybody to seek any information from . the bed buzzers were beeping for up to 30 mins at a time and this was most nights we visited after consulting a sister about my uncles condition me and my sister was totally stone walled of info of his true condition and only found out what was wrong with him on his discharge notes that noted several things that we were never informed about even though me and my sister are his next of kin ,i asked to see his notes out of sheer frustration and was told i would have to apply to the trust to see them in a stroppy manner . i dont think n.o.k.should be treated this way as we are the ones doing the caring on discharge and these nurses need to try to be more helpful and less obstructive .on a possitive note not all the nurses behaved like this some were caring and hard working run of there feet working under pressure so im hoping that staff will be more forth comming and less evasive with there information abouts a familys loved ones
