"Terrible care for a private hospital"

About: The Birkdale Clinic - Rotherham

(as the patient),

To say Birkdale is a private clinic the care I received was poor indeed. Firstly during the consultation I was not told about the risk of Keloid scarring or even asked about how my skin healed which I think is necessary when going for any surgery especially a cosmetic one to make you feel better about your looks. I had my procedure and had never had general anaesthetic before and reacted badly. I must admit the night staff was great, although a male chaperone to the bathroom was not acceptable.

The next morning I still felt dreadful and was told I was 'not ill' by one member of staff, then just left until my family picked me up and, as the place was deserted, no-one checked me out or anything. I wasn't informed of aftercare or anything. I then got an infection in my wound which was obviously a risk. I went back to see the surgeon after my operation as I was unhappy with something and I was made to feel like a freak. The surgeon was aggressive and defensive in the consultation and I was not offered a solution just a case of put up and shut up. I would personally never go to Birkdale again.
