"Unable to see an ENT for my 2 year old daughter"

My 2 year old daughter, put and lodged an object up her nose, quite deep. After looking we quickly established she needed to go to hospital to see an ENT.

Upon arrival at North Devon District Hospital we saw the A&E registrar, who looked and made 2 failed attempts to remove the object. At this point the registrar spoke to the ENT, but refused, despite several requests from us, to ask the ENT to come and see our daughter. The basis for this refusal was that this lodged item didn't warrant the ENT being called in, as it would resolve its self. I asked the registrar to clarify that they were refusing our request to see a specialist for a second opinion, they said yes. I explained that I would be reporting this to both the local press, this website and informing the Chief Executive. As a result, the registrar ended the consultation, saying they "wont be threatened" and reported me and the incident as a case of abuse to their manager.

We left North Devon District Hospital at 23:00, drove to Royal Devon & Exeter A&E unit, where the object was safely and quickly removed by an ENT, who agreed that to leave would have caused more problems in a few days, and lots of discomfort for a 2 year old.

Should we in North Devon deserve a better emergency service from our local hospital? Why did we have to fight for treatment?
