"Problems arranging hearing appt at Newport cottage"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS) The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

(as the patient),

I originally had a hearing test booked for the mid November and fitting of a new mould at Newport cottage hospital. This appointment was arranged some 4-6 weeks previously. When I arrived for my hearing test I was advised they would not carry out the test, as protocol had changed the week prior to my appointment. I was told I would have to get my GP to refer me. I believe my original appointment for a hearing test should have been honoured. Why my GP has to refer me is beyond me, as I have two hearing aids and my hearing is not going to suddenly improve. This new system means I have to wait 4 months for a hearing test. I have not been advised or given a choice regarding this appointment.

I wrote to the head of audiology regarding my hearing difficulties and still not had a response.

Thank you for taking the time to give TRAQS feedback following your recent referral.

I am sorry that your appointment for your hearing test has been delayed. I appreciate how frustrating it must have been to have been told that you could not have your hearing test as arranged for Mid November. Unfortunately this is outside TRAQS control.

If you have still not received a reply from the head of audiology may I suggest that you contact the PALS Officer at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital in the first instance who should be able to investigate your concerns on your behalf.

If I can be of any help please do not hesitate to contact me - 01952 580441
