"Compassionate oncology care at UCLH"

I just want to comment on the prompt, efficient and compassionate treatement we received when I took my 91 year old mother initially for a scan and then a consultation to have a diagnosis of lung cancer confirmed.

We only waited a week for the scan appointment; there was no waiting time when we went and little time in the waiting room for the consultation.

Both the Dr we saw and the palliative care nurse appeared unrushed, calm and absoloutely respectful to my mother's needs and attitudes. They gave her the confidence to accept the diagnosis with equanimity and also demonstrated concern and support for myself as next of kin.

Most of all they were unperturbed about engaging in conversation with her in spite of deafness!
