I was sent to the Maxillio Facial Dept, refered by an emergency dentist because I am Terrified of Dentists and need a tooth removed, when I arrived I had an x- ray done, then after a short wait i was called in to see a consultant. The consultant I saw did not seem interested, told me that the procedure I need done is a very minor one, which I agree with, said that it could be done either under local anasthetic or general, as they dont do sedation, the consultant made me feel as if I was wasting his time, even when i tried to explain that i am terrified of Dentists, the consultant i saw seemed to have no understanding of how distressing a trip to the dentist is for me, and no sympathy for this fact. I ended up getting so upset, I was in tears and panicing, none of the staff i encountered seemed to be interested in my distress and i then i walked out of the hospital without arranging anything further, and will not be continuing my treatment at this hospital, all that has been acheived by this visit is to reinforce my fear, discomfort, and distress at the idea of having Dental Treatment
