"childrens speech and language therapy"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Speech & language therapy

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was sent to SALT when I noticed some problems, he was put on a 6 week course and I was told he would be reviewed at the end. His course finished in September, 9 weeks later, he had an assesment I was told he would need to go on the next course but this would likely to be in the month of febuary 2013.

I think this waiting time between assesment and course is ridiculous as he is still struggling and would benefit more from a shorter wait.

Dear jacey

Thank you for taking the time to post this comment on Patient Opinion which I passed on to Tracy Biddle (Clinical Lead – Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service) who would like to issue the following response:

“I am very sorry that you have had cause to be unahppy with the waiting time between treatments for your child. Although we do have waiting lists for some groups we are constantly reviewing our service in an attempt to reduce these. In most cases, we aim to review all children after attending a group within 4 to 6 weeks. With regards to therapy, we always suggest that a child has a break between attending groups so that the he/she can consolidate any learning, which is recommended practice. Without knowing the details of your child's case it is difficult for me to comment on the length of wait however, I would be very happy to review your particular case if you would like to contact me on 01924 351546.

Thank you

Tracy
