"Great experience at minor injuries unit"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended the minor injuries unit with my son who had had a fall, cutting his face and appearing drowsy. As advised by our GP we attended A&E and were redirected through to the minor injuries unit.

The hospital appeared busy but waited only 15-20 minutes to be seen. The waiting area was far more welcoming that the usual A&E with lots of books to keep an impatient child occupied.

We were quickly assessed by a very friendly nurse who was able to allay my concerns over his drowsiness providing lots of reassurance. His eye was also dressed. I was happy with the amount of aftercare advice I was given regarding monitoring him for head injury and care for the cut and dressing. I was also encouraged to return should I feel there was any deterioration in his condition.

Although it appeared a busy evening, we did not feel rushed and I felt time was taken to involve my son and listen to my concerns. Overall, a really positive experience - thank you!
