"Guts"

About: St Richard's Hospital

(as the patient),

During the past 10 years I have needed several colonoscopys. I have been very frightened about this proceedure. However at St Richards they have been exceptionally kind to me.

The facilites are wonderful. It is very bright and airy in the unit.

The staff are very kind.

Best of all I am treated like a human being, not a number. The specialists are considerate and have time to care. Time to make me feel that they actually have read my notes and know about me and my particular fears!! They are not constantly turning over the pages of my notes to find out who I am and what is the matter with me.

I feel confident that all the staff provide for my special needs each time I need a colonoscopy.

For example, I am given a more gentle cleanser because I am old.

I am given more sedative beacuse I am frightened.

I am allowed to rest for longer afterwards in order to recover from the extra sedation.

The specialist goes slowly through the proceedure, I never feel that he is in a rush to get through his list.

A first class department.
