"Parking problems at QMC"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / General surgery

(as the patient),

I am fully wheelchair bound using a motorised chair. My car is adapted with a lift coming out at the side, which means that I require 2 parking spaces, or an end space. I live 2 miles from the Queen's Medical Centre.

On 4th March 2008 I had an appointment with Dr Ragunath for 9.30am. I arrived at 8.15 to ensure parking, but there was none available. I told the parking attendant I would have to cancel my appointment, but he managed to create another space for me with traffic cones.

On 20th March I had a 4pm appointment with Dr Keeley at the QMC. This time I did have to cancel the appointment due to lack of parking spaces. This has now been rescheduled, but no doubt I will have to miss this too. Unfortunately any other transport, including that provided by the hospital, is not an option as my specially adapted chair will not fit into these vehicles.
