"womens health unit"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I went into the womens health unit for a procedure and I think that the staff were fantastic even though there were staff shortages. Thanks to the sister named Janet. She was caring, provided me with information and kept me informed all the way through my stay. Could have done with a few more auxilaries to keep the pressures off the nurses.

Thank you for taking the time to post comments about your experience on WHU. I will ensure the team members are made aware.

Staffing levels at the hospital are monitored by the Ward Manager, Matrons and Heads of Nursing on a continual basis. I am sorry if you felt the ward was short staffed and can assure you that every effort is made to cover short term staffing issues, for example sickness, with additional team members from the Nurse bank.

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
